Safety Guidelines for Snap-Lock Spray Guns

The safety lock on most torch lighters consists of a protruding toggle mechanism; if carried on one's person, there is a risk that the lock could be inadvertently disengaged, leading to an accidental press of the ignition button and the emission of a flame. High temperatures, static electricity, or gas leaks occurring within a vehicle or a pocket could pose a safety hazard to the carrier. Improper control over the flame size also presents potential risks.

When traveling via public transportation-such as airplanes, trains, or subways-carrying such devices is typically prohibited or subject to on-site inspection, particularly for products containing an ignition mechanism. Security personnel may confiscate such items based on their specific characteristics. It is also strongly advised against storing torch lighters inside a vehicle.

Product instruction manuals typically explicitly state: "Keep away from faces and clothing." During use, it is recommended to maintain a distance of approximately 5 to 15 centimeters from the object being ignited. If a product not designed for inverted operation is held upside down or tilted during use, it may result in abnormal combustion, potentially triggering a fire or causing burns. It is recommended to prioritize the use of the manufacturer's original fuel to prevent gas leaks or ignition failures caused by incompatible specifications.

In accordance with the *Law on Public Security Administration Punishments* (as amended on June 27, 2025), when using tools such as torch lighters for self-defense, one must exercise caution regarding the proportionality of the defensive action, ensuring it does not exceed the necessary limits defined by the legal standards for justifiable defense. Merchants who market these products using sensationalist slogans-such as "dog repellent" or "wolf repellent"-may be in violation of the *Advertising Law*, specifically the regulations prohibiting the promotion of violent content. There have already been documented cases in which individuals received administrative penalties for inadvertently triggering wildfires through the careless use of torch lighters.

To mitigate potential risks, it is advisable to avoid purchasing products that are marketed specifically as "self-defense weapons." Instead, prioritize the selection of products equipped with robust safety ignition mechanisms.
